Zach Ayers, a senior at Davis Senior High in California, finished second in the Division 1 boys race at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Subsection meet at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. Ayers clocked 16:07.8 on the 3-mile course and was edged at the finish line by Braden King of Jesuit in 16:06.8, helping Davis Senior advance to the Nov. 13 section championship meet at the Willow Hills course in Folsom.
