Zach Ayers, a senior at Davis Senior, finished fifth in the Division 1 boys championship at the California state meet at Woodward Park in Fresno. Ayers covered the 5-kilometer layout in 14:55.6 to help the Blue Devils place 10th with 284 points. Ayers also prevented Newbury Park from sweeping the top five spots in the race, improving five seconds from his performance Oct. 9 at the ASICS Clovis Invitational.
